Program Highlights and Outcomes (UCOP Report)
CalTeach Berkeley is one of eight CalTeach programs across the UC system, and one of only two, along with UC Irvine, who offer a Teacher Credential course along with the Education Minor degree. We have awarded the education minor degree to more than 400 briiliant Berkeley graduates and have credentialed nearly 300 students. Each year we serve several hundred individual students through our course offerings, supporting STEM and non-STEM students, those who know they will be teachers and those who just want to explore education or fulfill key requirements of their own major.
Please see the University of California Office of the President's just-released Calteach Science and Math Teacher Initiative Highlights Report for information about the impact and reach of this vital program.
CalTeach is one of many institutions who have adopted the model originally created at the University of Texas Austin in 1997. Our partnered schools and teachers, time and time again, vocalize how much their students appreciate UCB students in their classrooms. Many of our CalTeach Graduates are now teaching STEM in various school districts accross California and the country. They continue to demonstrate the importance of K-12 STEM curriculum beyond their time with CalTeach.
